Equally, the 8mm Mauser is a great cartridge; when properly loaded it comes very close to matching anything the 30-06 Springfield cartridge can do and if bullets of similar profile to the best 30-caliber bullets offered were offered in 8mm, the ballistic differences within the effective hunting range would be inconsequential.
