Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Meet Timo: sleek black cat, ancient Egyptian wesekh collar, and absolutely certain he is the most important creature in any story he happens to be in - including this one.In Timo and Babi the Baboon, Book 8 of the Timo Adventures series, Timo notices something wrong close to home: one by one, his neighborhood friends are disappearing. The trail leads him to Souq El Gomaa, Cairo's oldest and most notorious market, where a kind tea seller, a sharp-eyed delivery boy, and a cage full of stolen pets are waiting for him.Getting caught by the wrong trader sends Timo three thousand years back in time, straight into the paws of Babi: an enormous, extremely dignified baboon who insists he is the "Protector of the Gate" and is distinctly unimpressed by a small, talkative cat. What starts as an argument over who's really in charge turns into a jailbreak spanning two centuries - complete with a baboon grooming committee, a goat with world-class timing, a parrot doing a remarkably convincing guard impression, and one cat absolutely certain none of it would have worked without him.Like every book in the series, this one is built on real Egyptian history. Babi really was worshipped as the "chief of the baboons," believed to guard the gates of the underworld and greet the sunrise. Cairo's real Souq El Gomaa really does have a long, uncomfortable history with stolen pets. A "Did That Really Happen?" page at the back unpacks both, in language a curious kid can follow.Timo Adventures pairs dry, deadpan humor with real heart: kids 4-10 will laugh at a cat convinced he personally invented animal rescue, while the grown-ups reading along catch the gentler point underneath, a cage doesn't care whose it is.Inside this book: a full-color 40-page comic-style adventure in the Ligne Claire tradition, a history page, three coloring pages, and a peek at what's next.
