Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

When Miriam Ogle inherits her sister's house in Harwick, Ohio, she expects to spend two weeks doing what she has always done best: organizing what remains.Constance left behind thirty-one years of books, papers, furniture, garden beds, unanswered questions-and Walter Greer, the quiet tenant who has lived in the front rooms for twelve years and was never told that Constance was dying.Miriam approaches the house like an estate to be settled. She makes lists. Sorts drawers. Labels boxes. Decides what stays and what goes. But Constance has left more behind than possessions.A stack of letters. An old family photograph. An annotated book shared across seven years of evenings. A sealed envelope addressed to Miriam. And, in nearly every room, evidence of a life her sister never quite learned how to explain. As Miriam begins to understand the relationship between Constance, Walter, and the house they quietly shared, she is forced to reconsider what she thought she knew about her sister-and about herself. Some lives are revealed in their biggest moments.Others are waiting in kitchens, gardens, old books, and the things someone chose to keep.It Was Good Here is a quiet, deeply human novel about sisters, grief, belonging, and the difference between managing a life and truly being present for it.
