Politics, education, family, work, artificial intelligence, friendship, and service may look like separate subjects, but each one tests the same basic question: are we willing to think clearly, speak honestly, act responsibly, and accept the consequences of what we believe and do?Why Am I Writing This?I have always valued direct opinions, including my own, and I have often wondered how two people can look at the same issue and reach completely opposite conclusions. That does not mean my opinions are always correct or better than anyone else's, which is unfortunate because that would simplify a lot of conversations. It means I value honesty, clarity, and the willingness to say what I actually think, even when the subject is uncomfortable or the room would prefer polite silence. I see that kind of communication disappearing in a culture increasingly shaped by political correctness, wounded egos, and hyperbolic political theater.WARNING: I use cynicism, humor, quotes, memes, and blunt language throughout this book. Some of it will be inappropriate to the topic, or at least inappropriate by polite standards, because that is often how real conversations sound when nobody has been assigned to polish the furniture. If you are easily offended, this may not be the book for you, and that is fine. I am not using vulgarity because I lack better words; I am using it because sometimes the most honest version of a thought is the one that arrives before it is sanitized.
