Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

In 2017, DNA analysis revealed a stunning truth: a Viking warrior buried with a full complement of weapons, horses, and gaming pieces was a woman. For 139 years, the skeleton sat in a museum storage room, assumed to be male. When scientists finally tested the bones, everything changed. Viking Women tells the story of the Birka warrior and what this extraordinary discovery reveals about the real power of Viking women. What you will discover inside: The 1878 excavation of Birka and the spectacular grave of Bj 581 How modern DNA testing shattered centuries of assumptions The fierce academic debate that followed the discovery Archaeological evidence of women buried with weapons across Scandinavia Women as traders along the Silk Road and beyond The Volur tradition, women practicing Norse magic and wielding spiritual power How Viking women made the sails that drove the Viking expansion Women as landholders, farm managers, and power brokers Why historians got it wrong, medieval and modern biases exposed What the new evidence tells us about Viking society Why this book is different: This is a text-only history book grounded in the latest archaeological and scientific research. It offers clear, accessible storytelling for curious readers, not mythology, not fantasy, but real history backed by evidence.
