Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

This book began not in a library, and not at a desk. It began in a session. We will not identify the individual, because confidentiality is sacred and because the specific story, while unforgettable, is also painfully ordinary. A client sat across from us, shoulders drawn in, speaking barely above a whisper. She had been in what she now understood to be an abusive relationship-one characterized by manipulation, isolation, and emotional cruelty. But the thing she could not stop returning to, the thing that disturbed her sleep and eroded her sense of self far more than the original harm, was this: everyone believed him. His account of the relationship, in which she was the controlling one, the manipulative one, the abusive one, had been received without question by friends, by family members, by their shared community. She had been cast as the villain so completely and so convincingly that she had begun, in her most exhausted moments, to wonder if she was. That session crystallized something we had been observing across years of clinical practice, across hundreds of clients walking through the doors of Dr. RAD The Attachment Code Breaker in Lakeland, Florida. The most psychologically destabilizing aspect of abusive relationships is not always the abuse itself-it is the inversion of the narrative that follows. It is the moment the perpetrator becomes the protagonist of their own victimhood story and the target of their abuse is handed the script of the villain. We have spent the past several years developing what we call the Attachment Code framework-a model for understanding how early attachment patterns, relational schemas, and defensive psychological structures interact to create the conditions for toxic relationship dynamics. Within that framework, role reversal has emerged repeatedly as one of the most destructive and least named phenomena in relational abuse. It is the subject that clients bring up with the most shame, the most confusion, and the most urgent need for language.
