Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Technically Fine is a memoir about an awkward Black girl from the South who became very good at being whatever the room required-and spent years mistaking that skill for knowing who she was.Raised inside Black Southern family, church, high expectations, and a lot of love that did not always come with explanation, Lia Childress learned early how to read people, follow the rules, and make herself understandable. From private-school classrooms and church pews to marriage, ministry, therapy rooms, and a career built around understanding other people, she looked successful from the outside. Technically, she was fine. But life kept refusing to stay inside neat categories. She could love God and question the church. Love her family and disagree with them. Genuinely love her husband and still need the marriage to end. Be bisexual without rewriting her past. Leave Arkansas and still ache for home. Be deeply capable and still need help. And at thirty, a late diagnosis gave her new language for a lifetime of watching, translating, performing, and wondering why things that seemed effortless for everyone else required so much work.Funny, intimate, sharp, and deeply human, Technically Fine is not a story about discovering that everything in the past was wrong. It is about realizing that almost nothing is completely one thing.Because love can be real and still miss you.Home can shape you and still be somewhere you leave.A life can look completely fine while costing far more than anyone can see.And sometimes becoming yourself is less about changing who you are than finally having the language to understand who you have been all along.
