Can one girl's voice save the Arctic?Eleven-year-old Sydney Cabella has always felt a deep connection to animals. But during a family trip to the Arctic islands of Svalbard, that bond becomes extraordinary. After a terrifying accident on the sea ice, Sydney discovers she can hear animals speak-and what they tell her is urgent. The Arctic is melting. Their homes are disappearing. Time is running out.As a ringed seal and a polar bear warn her of a rapidly changing world, Sydney struggles to understand their message-and to convince anyone else it's real. Her brilliant twin sister, Sierra, trusts science and logic and refuses to believe animals can talk, pulling the sisters apart just when teamwork matters most. With only 72 hours left before leaving the Arctic, Sydney must decide whether to stay silent or risk everything to speak up for creatures who cannot protect themselves. At the Edge of the Ice is a suspenseful middle-grade eco-adventure that blends real Arctic science with a touch of magic. Set against a breathtaking polar landscape, it explores courage, empathy, and the power of collaboration-showing young readers that even the smallest voices can spark meaningful change.
