Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A calm, immersive way for children to learn Brazilian Portuguese through reading stories.Surprises: Bilingual Brazilian Portuguese-English Stories for Kids is the second book in a unique 52-story reading system designed for children who want to learn Portuguese naturally through stories, not memorisation or drills.Set in a warm Brazilian neighbourhood where everyday life is full of small surprises-strange sounds in trees, lost objects, sudden rainstorms, hidden doors, and unexpected discoveries-each story follows children as they explore their world and find meaning in the ordinary. The writing blends clear, accessible language with authentic Brazilian storytelling traditions, creating a reading experience that feels like fiction first and learning second. Meaning grows naturally through context, repetition, and everyday detail, rather than explanation or rules. This book follows a structured progressive method across four interconnected A2-level stories, where language gently develops from low A2 into early independent reading. Sentence length increases gradually, dialogue becomes more natural, and emotional expression deepens without overwhelming the reader.Core vocabulary is carefully controlled and repeatedly recycled across stories, allowing learners to build confidence through familiarity while still encountering just enough new language to move forward.Rather than teaching Brazilian Portuguese through grammar instruction, this approach supports natural language absorption through narrative immersion, emotional engagement, and repeated exposure to everyday life situations.Perfect for beginner readers moving beyond the basics into early independent reading, especially children who enjoy gentle mystery, discovery, and everyday adventures in story form.
