Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"The man who brought Muddy Waters to the session that started it all - and then kept showing up for the next seventy years."In August 1947, a working pianist brought a young guitarist he believed in to a Chicago recording session. That guitarist was Muddy Waters. The label became Chess Records. And the man who made the introduction, Sunnyland Slim, spent the next seven decades doing the same thing for nearly every major figure in Chicago blues - playing alongside Howlin' Wolf and Little Walter, running his own label, mentoring generations, still performing into his eighties.Sunnyland Slim: From the Delta to Chicago traces Albert Luandrew's extraordinary life - from a sharecropping community in the Mississippi Delta, through the juke joints and gambling houses of Memphis, to the South Side clubs where he helped invent the sound of modern electric blues. It's a story with no single explosive hit record and no dramatic fall from grace - because Sunnyland Slim's career was never about the spotlight. This is not another book about the men Sunnyland Slim made famous. It's the book about the man who made them possible.Know the story. Hear the blues differently.
