Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Understanding the architecture is only the beginning. Operating an enterprise IBM Z environment is where systems programming truly comes to life.IBM Z Systems Programming - Volume II: Program Execution and Enterprise Facilities explores the technologies and services that transform IBM Z from a powerful architecture into one of the world's most reliable enterprise computing platforms.Building upon the architectural foundations established in Volume I, this volume examines program execution, interrupt processing, I/O architecture, DASD and tape storage, the Job Entry Subsystem (JES), enterprise communications, TCP/IP, UNIX System Services, and the major enterprise subsystems that power mission-critical computing, including CICS, IMS, Db2, and DFSMS.Rather than treating these topics as isolated technologies, the book explains how they interact to support transaction processing, workload execution, data management, and enterprise operations. Throughout, the emphasis remains on systems thinking, architectural understanding, and practical engineering rather than memorization of commands or procedures.Written for systems programmers, infrastructure engineers, application support specialists, technical architects, and IT professionals seeking a deeper understanding of z/OS, this volume bridges the gap between architectural knowledge and real-world enterprise operations.Whether supporting production systems, expanding your technical expertise, or preparing for advanced systems programming responsibilities, Volume II provides the knowledge and perspective required to understand how IBM Z delivers the performance, reliability, scalability, and resilience demanded by the world's most mission-critical computing environments.
