Winning is the worst thing that can happen to you.Marilynn Smither does not believe in curses. She believes in facts, evidence, and things that can be explained. Then an invitation arrives in the handwriting of her aunt Edith, who vanished eleven months ago.The card leads Marilynn to Harvest Hall, a remote community center hosting Ash Hollow's annual Halloween bingo night. The room is warm, crowded, and cheerful. The prizes are strange. The Caller is stranger. Then a teenage boy wins. And disappears in front of everyone.By morning, no one remembers he ever existed. No one except Marilynn, former detective Jonah Quentin, paranormal podcaster Marlow Pell, and Marsha Quilter, a woman who has survived the game for decades. They soon discover that leaving Harvest Hall does not end the bingo. The cards keep playing. The numbers keep coming. Every completed row brings a curse, and every year the game claims thirteen winners.Marilynn came to Ash Hollow to find out what happened to her aunt.Instead, she finds a bargain older than the town itself. And when the game prepares to claim its final winner, Marilynn makes a choice no one has ever made before. She chooses to win... but in Ash Hollow, even sacrifice has rules.
