Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

By the Water is part of a 52 Story Method, a connected collection of stories designed to help children develop Norwegian through reading. In these four stories, Emma and Jonas discover an old red boat, meet a fisherman whose memories are beginning to fade, follow mysterious shadows across a quiet lake, and find an island that seems to appear only in summer.Set among fjords, lakes, boats, forests, and small Norwegian communities, the stories explore friendship, memory, family stories, and the places that quietly hold our past. The Norwegian language gradually becomes richer and more challenging across the four stories, moving from lower B1 towards higher B1 and preparing young readers for more independent reading. Core vocabulary and language structures are naturally recycled, while new words and expressions are introduced through context. There are no drills or artificial exercises inside the stories. Instead, children learn through following characters, understanding situations, noticing repeated language, and becoming absorbed in the world of the story.Warm, atmospheric, and gently mysterious, By the Water is for young readers who are ready to move beyond beginner Norwegian and discover the pleasure of reading a story in another language.
