"Is anybody there? ...Don't be shy."For ten years, Spook Squad Live has been Britain's cheapest paranormal show. The orbs are talc. The cold spots are a fan in a bin. The haunted teddy runs on fishing line, and the medium learned her gift from a library book. A hundred and twelve episodes, and not one ghost. Now Vista+ has sent the crew to Wrenfield Asylum for a three-hour live Halloween special. Dale "Dazzler" Kemp, washed-up children's TV host, is hoping for a comeback. Tina Marsh, Madame Mystique, is hoping for a pension. Gaz, the effects man, is secretly hoping the place is haunted. Then, twenty minutes into transmission, something writes in the condensation on the camera lens: YOU ARE NOT VERY GOOD AT THIS.Matron Eudora Hollis has been listening to every episode for ten years. She has notes. She also has a score to settle over a made-up legend that Dale told on camera, and she wants a correction, in proper form, on the air, before midnight. The problem is that the gates are locked, the network won't cut the feed, and three million viewers are convinced it's all a brilliant stunt. The more real it gets, the more they love the writing. The Ghost Hunters is a fast, dark and very British horror-comedy about fraud, fame and finally being believed. Sit down. You've earned it.
