Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

In Promise of a Spring, Alexander H. von Salis-Lac develops the images and motifs of the poetry collection Spring of Promise into a series of independent narratives. The volume gathers short stories that trace an epochal change - the transition from a long night of cold decay, of lies and dust, toward light, purity, and a new morning. The stories are arranged in four parts. In the first, "The New Morning," islands, dunes, bright coasts, and the ascent "forward, upward, into life" stand at the center. Here one meets people who free themselves from oppression and refuse, discovering a fine, bright sand, an open view, and the promise of a spring. The second part, "Love," presents love as a strong, ordering force - "strong as death," as a gentle word, a soft wing, and as that which makes people rejoice. These are stories of closeness, trust, and the overcoming of pressure and fear. In the third part, "On the High Seas," the focus is on anchors that must be set elsewhere, on the call of the Highest, and on the expanse in which sea and sky become one. The fourth part, "The Powerful and the Human," turns the gaze toward corruption, the perfect veneer, and the idea that stands above all - and toward the individuals who assert themselves against it: with integrity, conscience, and the will to live as free men and women. The figures meet the reader in their clear, unbroken form: as people who bear responsibility, who protect, preserve, and live in relationship. In them is reflected an order that comes from within - from fidelity, from a sense of what is right, and from the strength that lies in bond and origin. A quiet, deep tone of peace and promise runs through the volume, of love as a sustaining power, and of a dignity that needs no explanation. Truth, achievement, and the free decision of the individual appear as the forces that drive away the dust of night and make the new morning possible.Promise of a Spring is literature of hope. It tells of epochal changes that begin within, and of a light that returns after a long night. The stories are a general expression of the feelings of a time of change - clear, pure, and free of any esoteric atmosphere.
