Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The house remembers everything. Almost.Eleven-year-old Wren Castellan notices everything: the hallway that grows three steps longer on rainy days, the window that wasn't there yesterday, the way her house is starting to forget.Because Number 14 Alder Street isn't just old. It's alive - and it keeps every memory the Castellan family ever made, stored room by room, from Gran's dance-till-midnight years to last Tuesday's burnt toast. Now those memories are going missing, and the rooms that held them are going dark.Armed with a notebook, nine rules, and one stubborn family, Wren sets out to anchor the past before it slips away forever. But saving the house means doing the one thing her family has forgotten how to do: saying the true things out loud.Funny, tender, and quietly magical, A Mad House is a story about memory, love, and the ordinary courage of paying attention - the kind of book that makes kids laugh on one page and cry on the next, and makes the grown-ups reading over their shoulder reach for a tissue.Perfect for fans of The Wild Robot, Wishtree, and The Vanderbeekers.¿ A magical house that keeps memories - and is losing them¿ A heroine who notices what everyone else walks past¿ Real family warmth: siblings, secrets, burnt eggs, and Sunday dinners¿ A gentle, honest handling of a grandparent's memory loss¿ Adventure, mystery, and an ending the whole family will talk aboutRead aloud or read alone - ideal for readers ages 8 to 12 (grades 3-7), classroom read-alouds, and any family that has ever loved someone who started losing their words. Some houses keep memories. This one needs help keeping them.
