Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A missing college student. An abandoned car. A message that should have been impossible to send. When Jenna Wallace's car is discovered beside a lonely country road, the scene suggests she disappeared without warning. The driver's door is open, her shattered phone lies near the ditch, and her purse remains untouched on the passenger seat. Jenna, however, is nowhere to be found.Working under Detective Thompson's supervision, Jake, Emily, Amy, Max, Mia, and Chip begin retracing her final movements. Emily discovers that Jenna's last message was sent after her phone was broken. Max finds evidence that someone moved the car, while Amy realizes Jenna's frightened best friend is protecting more than a secret.A hidden receipt leads the young investigators to an abandoned roadside motel-and to the truth about someone Jenna was trying to help escape a controlling situation. As the clues carry them closer to Briarwood Lake, the team realizes Jenna may never have been the intended victim. With time running out and two young women in danger, the Thompson Detectives must uncover what happened without becoming the next targets.
