Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Here are the best-loved fairy tales of Japan, gathered and retold for the West by Yei Theodora Ozaki - and led by their jewel. In "The Bamboo-Cutter and the Moon-Child," an old woodcutter finds a tiny, shining girl within a stalk of bamboo. She grows into the peerless Princess Kaguya, courted by princes and emperors alike - until the night the moon sends its shining chariot to carry her home. With her come one-and-twenty more of Japan's most beloved tales: Momotaro born from a peach, Urashima the fisher-lad and the Dragon King's daughter, Kintaro the golden boy, and a whole country of ogres, badgers, tongue-cut sparrows, and grateful beasts. This Northlume Library edition presents Ozaki's complete collection, with her preface and dedication.
