Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A picture book about fear, courage, and learning to understand your feelings

The Brown Dog of the Green Glen is a calm, reassuring story for children aged three and up, created to help young readers recognise and talk about emotions in a way that feels safe and natural. When Finn's mother becomes unwell, his older brothers are too frightened to help. But Finn sets off on a quiet journey through the Green Glen to find healing water hidden deep in the hills. Along the way, he meets a large, shaggy Brown Dog who looks frightening at first, but becomes something very different.Inspired by traditional Scottish folklore, this beautifully illustrated story invites families to slow down, read together, and open gentle conversations about feelings such as worry, fear, bravery, kindness, and love, without ever feeling forced or preachy. This is a story for children who feel deeply, for parents who want to support emotional understanding with warmth rather than instruction, and for shared reading moments that linger long after the final page.A modern retelling of a timeless tale, and a book families return to again and again.

The Brown Dog of the Green Glen is part of the Emotional Learning for Children series. If your child enjoyed this story, look out for The White Pet, a warm and funny tale of friendship and bravery, inspired by a Scottish folktale from the Isle of Islay.
