Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Bhasani: From Bengal to the World offers a critical examination of the life and political thought of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani (1880-1976), one of the most influential yet understudied figures in South Asian political history. Emerging from the rural heartlands of Bengal, Bhasani became a central force in anti-colonial mobilization, agrarian reform, and postcolonial state formation. His leadership spanned the British colonial period, the creation of Pakistan, and the liberation of Bangladesh-each phase revealing his unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and mass participation in politics. The book situates Bhasani within broader transnational and ideological frameworks, tracing his interactions with socialist, Islamic, and anti-imperialist movements across Asia and Africa. Drawing from archival records, party documents, contemporary newspapers, and oral testimonies, it reinterprets his role in shaping popular political consciousness and peasant resistance in mid-twentieth-century South Asia.By revisiting Bhasani's political discourse and activism through a global lens, this work positions him as a Bengali leader of international stature, whose vision extended beyond national borders to encompass a decolonized, self-reliant, and egalitarian world order.
