Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

What can we learn from a woman who appears in only one verse? More than we might expect. The genealogies of 1 & 2 Chronicles are filled with names that are easy to pass over. Some belong to women whose stories are familiar. Others appear only once-as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, builder, or woman connected to a particular place. Some are named; others are known only through a relationship. Yet each woman included in Scripture invites us to slow down and look more carefully. In Women of the Kingdom: Devotions from 1 & 2 Chronicles - Stories of Lineage, Legacy, and Lasting Faith, Marydell J. Potter continues her journey through every woman mentioned in the Bible, including those whose lives are recorded in only a few words. Each devotion begins with the details Scripture gives us-a name and its meaning, a place, a family connection, a recorded action, a moment of pain, a piece of work, or even a single line-and follows that doorway into the larger truths of God's Word.Within these pages you will meet women such as Timna, Bithiah, Sheerah, Hammoleketh, Mahalath, the mother of Jabez, the woman of Judah, and many others whose names are often passed quickly in our reading. Their brief appearances lead into devotions on pain and prayer, belonging, work, comparison, human love, worship, speech, strength, responsibility, and what it means to live beneath the lordship of Christ. Some of these women have fuller stories, while others are known only through a name, a relationship, a place, or a few words in a genealogy. Yet even the smallest detail can become a doorway into deeper biblical truth and a fresh reminder of who God is.Again and again, these women lead us beyond themselves to the greater story of Scripture and ultimately to Jesus Christ-the faithful King, the perfect Savior, and the One in whom redemption is found.Written in a warm, Scripture-rich devotional style, this book is for women who want to read the Bible more slowly, notice what they may have overlooked, and discover how even a single name in a genealogy can open the door to deeper truth.Because sometimes Scripture gives us a chapter. Sometimes a sentence. And sometimes only a name. But even a name can make us stop, open the Bible, and look again toward Him.
