Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

This is the second book of poetry by Nashville-based writer, artist, and activist Christine Hall, who also authored Waking Up God (2012).

"This catalytic collection takes poetic risks worth celebrating, because Christine Hall is a brilliant poet who is not afraid to SAY THE DAMN THING by getting to the guts of it: the resonance of the wound, the healing, humanity, the hurt, God, sex, kindness-all of it-shimmering and beseeching. This is urgent and necessary poetry that bears witness to humanity with the fullness of erotic energy, surging with philosophical fervor. I know that, like me, you'll find plenty of lines to highlight and underline, pages you'll want to dog-ear and holler about." - Tiana Clark, poet, professor, essayist, author of Scorched Earth, I Can't Talk About the Trees Without the Blood, and Equilibrium

"What Hall does with creation is unruly and that is the liberating center of this collection." - Kashif Andrew Graham, writer, co-host of Who's Gonna Be There?

"Weird Wishes reaches into your belly and extracts your guts with eerie precision, not to wound, but to awaken." - Fizza Abbas, Oxford Brookes International Poetry Competition Finalist '21, Author of Ool Jalool, Bakho, and The Lament of the Sunken Ship "Apology to Christine for not finding anything negative to say about her poems

I tried. For example, I thoughtMaybe if she used a pistol in those robberies>But immediately I knew that would change everything." - Klyd Watkins, poetry out loud recordings / the wind is sacred there (Hand to Mouth, 2021) and The Wolf Can Smell This Is My Acre (April Gloaming, 2025)
