With an Afterword by Sir Geoff Hurst, this is a book to enhance that special relationship between football mad grandchildren and their Grandads. The differences between the beautiful game then and now are staggering but the love of following England for both generations is as intense and exciting as it's ever been.

For all English football fans of a certain age, the 1966 World Cup Final is perhaps the most cherished sporting memory of their young lives. A Story For Grandad to Tell is a tale written by one grandad for all you other grandads to pass on to your grandchildren.A Story for Grandad to Tell is only the starting point for Grandad or indeed Grandma to embellish with whatever personal memories come flooding back from that Summer of 66. Whether you were at Wembley that day, or watched on TV or even listened in on a tiny transistor radio, there will be plenty of opportunities to interrupt the story with your own recollections. As you read this, share the joy of England's one and only World Cup win with grandkids who will no doubt be hoping and praying for that second amazing achievement in the Summer of 2026.Come on England!Come on Grandad!
