Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

I was one of those people who hated poetry. At a creative writing session I was the one>Which shows a certain arrogance.

Or stupidity.Or naivety.>(Probably all three.)

Clearly the world does not need to hear what I have to say.

So I started writing lots and lots of poems anyway.

Poems which were intended to make people smile, or better, laugh out loud. Poems that were meant to be an antidote to all the well-meaning, earnest, intense, political poems.

Poems that had very little hidden meaning and were meant to be performed.

This book is the result of some of that creative effort. Of months of standing up in pubs in the North West reading them out, to largely supportive audiences.

After reading them out I would usually go home and think: that wasn't right, it wasn't tight enough, it didn't flow right, it didn't land properly.

Then I would work on them, over and over again.

I would make them, I won't say better, but at least not so bad.

And, don't look for hidden meanings, don't look for hidden messages, or social commentary.

(There may be a bit of social commentary, but it's hardly hidden, it will slap you in the face when you get to it.)

Don't analyse them, just enjoy them.

And remember, they are not all true.>Martin CM
