Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Before he could find his way home, he had to understand where he came from.In the summer of 1964, twelve-year-old Peter Gallagher is sent to St. James Military School, not as an adventure but as a consequence-a family's attempt to rein in a boy whose curiosity and restless spirit have become too much to contain. What begins as "summer school" soon reveals itself as something far more lasting, a turning point that will change him forever.Growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota, Peter's early years are filled with the warmth of neighborhood games, holiday rituals, and the quiet comfort of family routines. But beneath that familiarity lies confusion, unmet emotional needs, and an unspoken distance between a boy and his parents. Through Christmas traditions, some understanding adults, and the solace of his humming internal soundtrack, Peter begins to see the world-and himself-more clearly. As his schooling becomes more rigid and the gap between expectation and reality widens, Peter's journey becomes one of introspection, loss, and resilience. The Humming Boy is at once a coming-of-age tale and a deeply human story of family, belonging, and the silent forces that shape identity.
