Gennadius declares that the Latin Christians are their enemies and a potential threat to their security. What is more Byzantine Christians must learn to observe the new political order in the Balkans and submit to the authority of the Ottoman sultan. These statements are made in an effort to appease Turkish authorities, and preserve the remnants of the Greek Christians within the Turkish state.
