Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

A story of redemption, mental fortitude, and the banishment of demons.Set against the backdrop of Thailand's nightlife industry, The Last Capone traces a life shaped by extremes-success, loss, excess-and the slow, difficult path toward something more meaningful. At the center of that transformation is an unlikely force: the "Little Devil," a presence that prominent OnlineBookClub reviewer Catherine Sweet describes as "jumping off the page"-someone who challenges, redirects, and ultimately changes the course of a life that once seemed set. What follows is a shift few would expect-from brothel owner to something very different. Along the way came changes that reached beyond one life: wages raised, exploitation confronted, and during the COVID crisis, tens of thousands fed when it mattered most. Some began to refer to him simply as "the Benefactor." Others knew him by another name-the Last Capone.Four central figures in the book are among the "Miracle 9," rescued as teenagers and now thriving as successful young adults-including Jenny, founder of One World Water, featured in a Bangkok magazine and a documentary film. Today, all nine have gone on to become successful young adults, including university graduates, a master's degree holder, a business owner, a fashion model, and a TikTok presence with a large following. One World Water has provided free water and support to tens of thousands of the poor and vulnerable, reflecting a story not defined by where it began-but by what came after. This is not a typical redemption story. It doesn't look away from the damage done, or the weight of the past-but it also doesn't end there. In ways both visible and unseen, lives begin to change. Some stories are about where you came from. Others are about what you choose to become. This is one of them.
