Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Welcome to Tales of Nasreddin Hodja! In this book you will meet Nasreddin Hodja, a famous storyteller hero from long ago. He is wise, funny, and quick-thinking. Sometimes he teaches a lesson with a joke. Sometimes he solves a problem with a clever twist. And sometimes he helps people see what is fair, even when things feel mixed up.A Hodja (say: HO-jah) is a respected teacher, often someone who teaches about learning, good behavior, and faith. People listen to a Hodja because he is known for wisdom and good advice.A qadi (say: KAH-dee) is a judge. A qadi listens to people's arguments and tries to decide what is right and fair, using the laws and teachings of the time. These adventures take place in twelfth century Turkey, which means about 900 years ago. You will see village streets, busy marketplaces, inns for travelers, town squares, and mountain paths. Life looked different then, but people still had the same kinds of feelings we have today: hunger, pride, kindness, anger, worry, and hope.Because these stories come from a place and time where Islam was an important part of daily life, this book speaks about it with respect. You may see characters praying, saying kind words about God, and living by traditions that mattered deeply to their community. Now turn the page and step into the old roads of Turkey, where a single moment can become a tale, and a clever Hodja can turn trouble into wisdom.
