Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Who is the God who has spoken?Systematic Theology: Scripture Defines Scripture - Volume 2: The Doctrine of God is a thorough, Scripture-driven study of theology proper: the being, attributes, works, and triune glory of God.This volume builds on the foundation of Volume 1, yet it is written to stand on its own as a complete study of the doctrine of God. Readers do not need to have finished the entire series to benefit from this book. At the same time, it functions as the second volume in a larger 24-volume systematic theology set, carrying forward the controlling conviction of the series: Scripture defines Scripture.Rather than beginning with human philosophy, religious tradition, speculation, or cultural assumptions about what God must be like, this volume seeks to let the Bible define the God who has revealed Himself. God is not shaped by man's imagination. He is known by His Word.Inside this volume, readers will study:¿ The God who must be known as He reveals Himself¿ God's names and self-revelation¿ The fear of the Lord and the knowledge of God¿ God's oneness, spirituality, eternity, self-existence, immutability, infinity, and incomprehensibility¿ The holiness, righteousness, justice, truthfulness, faithfulness, love, mercy, wrath, goodness, wisdom, knowledge, power, presence, and sovereignty of God¿ God's eternal purpose, creation, providence, judgment, and salvation¿ The triune revelation of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit¿ God's character as the guardrail of doctrine, interpretation, promises, worship, and hope¿ The glory of God as the end of all thingsThis is not merely a book about one doctrine among many. The doctrine of God governs every other doctrine. A wrong view of God will eventually distort Scripture, salvation, worship, prophecy, the church, holiness, judgment, and Christian living. But when God is known as He reveals Himself, theology is brought back beneath the authority of the living God.Written for pastors, teachers, students, and serious Bible readers, The Doctrine of God calls the church to recover a full biblical vision of the God who is holy, faithful, sovereign, merciful, righteous, triune, and glorious.Whether read by itself or as part of the full Systematic Theology: Scripture Defines Scripture series, this volume brings the reader back to the necessary beginning of all true theology:God has spoken, and He must be known as He reveals Himself.
