Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Something has gone quiet in the modern church. We have services but not trembling, music but not awe, the language of the holy without the encounter with the holy. The fear of God was not argued away - it evaporated, drained from our worship and our preaching so gradually that we never noticed it leaving.Trembling Joy is the recovery. With the precision of the scholar and the fire of the preacher, Rev. Dr. Billy J. Hill leads the reader back to what Scripture calls the beginning of wisdom. This is not the cringing dread of a slave before a cruel master, nor the thin, polite "respect" that costs the soul nothing. It is the thing the church has nearly forgotten: the awe-filled reverence of a creature who stands before infinite holiness - and discovers that the trembling is the joy. From Proverbs to Sinai, from Isaiah's throne room to the transfigured face of Christ, from the God who says "Fear not" three hundred times to the God who remains a consuming fire, Hill rebuilds the doctrine the church let slip away. Rigorous enough for the academy, warm enough for the pew, urgent enough for the pulpit, Trembling Joy calls a comfortable church back to the holy fear that is the root of holiness, the fountain of life, and the ground of unshakable joy."Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling." (Psalm 2:11)
