Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"Rose Bingham has written an easy-to-read, detail-rich, story of her memories as a little girl during the years 1940 to 1947 on her Polish grandparents' farm. You will learn about a Midwestern farmstead-the buildings that made it up, especially the farmhouse. You will sit in on a Polish songfest, something that occurred regularly on Saturday nights at her grandparents' farmhouse. You'll read about how Rose's mother and grandmother took little Rose outside on a dark night to look at the stars, and appreciate the night sky. You'll go with Rose to the local feed mill and smell the earthy smell of ground grain. What was fun on a farm during the 1940s, before TV and cell phones? You'll learn it here. For example, an old tire swing hanging in a tree provided hours of entertainment. You'll go with little Rose to the Juneau County Fair and ride the Tilt-a-Whirl, the merry-go-round, and real Shetland ponies.Rose Bingham has done an excellent job of capturing what Midwestern farm life was like when she was a little girl. Read the book-you'll learn much, and besides, you'll enjoy doing it."-Jerry AppsAuthor of several books on early farm life, and seven PBS hour-long TV documentaries.
