When an American vice president is chosen to be humanity's first representative to meet the mysterious occupant of a UFO, the tired scripts and habits of her decadent lifestyle are burned away in the searing light of a new reality. An up-and-coming Hollywood movie director faces the end of her career when she realizes the arrival of the UFOs calls for new stories that she does not know how to tell. A venal American president releases all of the government's secret UFO files to distract from his attempt to steal an election that he lost. In the basement labs of a private aerospace company, two engineers labor away on a project as secret and compartmentalized as their own love affair.
