Told in first person as the memories of a 14 year old girl, the adult Julietta recounts in Departing War's Despair, her youthful hopes for a brighter future, only to discover that she and her family have escaped the legacy of Mussolini's Italian fascism to face the reality of Peron's repressive Argentine regime.Woven throughout this first intriguing novel and each of the two successive books to follow is the fascinating story of stolen priceless jewels, as well as the role the Vatican played on two continents to help those still devoted to Hitler to escape justice and the rebuilding of their dream of a Nazi world in a corrupt Argentina. Julietta's early awareness of injustice and deception leads her as an adult to become a world famous photojournalist, and her beloved brother a Superior Court justice. Supported by her family and friends, she seeks to find the truth of what is real in a world of lies and illusions that still shatters the way we see the world today.
