Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Long before stories were written down, they lived in the voices of those who told them.Akụkọ Ifọ Nnem Ochie Kọọrọ M (Folktales My Grandmother Told Me) is a collection of four Igbo folktales rooted in the oral storytelling tradition of the Igbo people of Nigeria. First published in 2008, the book grew from stories passed down through generations and from the treasured experience of listening to a grandmother tell the tales that entertained, instructed, and preserved the wisdom of a people.Written in Igbo, these stories carry the wit, imagination, values, proverbs, and moral lessons characteristic of traditional Igbo storytelling. This new edition preserves the original stories while introducing them to a new generation of readers and to Igbo families across the world.More than a collection of folktales, Akụkọ Ifọ Nnem Ochie Kọọrọ M is an invitation to listen again, to remember, and to keep alive the stories that once travelled from the voices of our elders into the hearts of children.
