Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Jayn knows there's something SUPER inside her.But when a storm is on the way, she has a problem: superheroes aren't supposed to get scared... are they?Five-year-old Jayn remembers exactly what happened during the last big storm-the booming thunder, flashing lightning, and hiding beneath her blankets until it was over. This time, she has a plan. If superheroes aren't afraid, then maybe becoming one will make the scared feeling disappear. With a little help from Mom, Jayn creates the perfect superhero cape. She chooses soft, cozy fabric, decorates it with enormous SUPER JAYN letters, and adds plenty of feathers-even if her curious cat, Spooky, thinks those feathers might be for him. When the first raindrops begin to fall, Super Jayn is ready. Then the thunder BOOMS.And Jayn discovers something unexpected: the cape doesn't make her fear disappear. When another crash sends Spooky racing into the dark hallway, Jayn has a choice to make. She is still scared. The hallway is still dark. The thunder is still loud. But with her soft cape wrapped around her and Spooky somewhere ahead, Jayn takes one step anyway. Then another. And another. What Jayn discovers at the end of that hallway changes what she believes about superheroes-and about herself. Maybe being brave doesn't mean that you never feel afraid. Maybe you can be scared and brave at the very same time.Super Jayn Says: Every Hero Needs a Cape is a warm, engaging picture book about fear, courage, and finding your own way through hard things. Through Jayn's adventure, young readers are invited to recognize their feelings without letting those feelings define what they are capable of doing. And when the storm is over, Jayn finds a special way to make sure she never forgets what she learned: a handmade patch for her cape. It becomes the first reminder of a challenge she faced and got through-and the beginning of many more Super Jayn adventures to come.

This book also invites children to continue the experience beyond the story by creating a superhero cape of their own and adding patches that tell their stories. Because every cape can remember something-and every child has something SUPER inside them. The book itself establishes that each new challenge Jayn faces will add another patch to her cape.
