Throughout the story, colorful illustrations, repeated language, visual action, and AAC-supported vocabulary help children experience core words in meaningful, memorable ways.Watch the friends look UP, follow leaves DOWN, discover colorful LEAVES, build an enormous leaf pile-and laugh when one little leaf lands right on Kona's nose!Designed especially for beginning communicators, autistic children, minimally speaking and nonspeaking children, AAC users, and the families, educators, SLPs, and therapists who support them.Inside you'll find AAC visual supports for UP, DOWN, and LEAF, repetitive and predictable language, engaging illustrations that visually reinforce each word, guidance for adults on modeling AAC during shared reading, and simple ideas for continuing to use the target words during everyday activities. There is no testing and no pressure to respond. Children can listen, look, point, gesture, sign, vocalize, use AAC, speak-or simply enjoy the story.Because communication isn't about saying words the "right" way. It's about having something to say-and knowing someone is listening.Kona's AAC Adventure SeriesReal friends.
